My 6th Birthday Pool Party

November 30 – December 2, 2013

Dad, Donna, and Grandma flew into Adelaide on Friday afternoon and flew straight into action. After our visit to the grocery store, Daddo made us sandwiches to enjoy while everyone took a pile of report cards to proofread. By the time I’d brushed my hair and put my shoes back on, the watermelon for the retirement party I was attending was sliced and arranged and the kitchen was spic and span. Ah, gotta love having the fam around!!!

pool, shovel, vacuuming, cricket bat, whirlpool,

Saturday morning (post coffee in the sunshine) we hit the yard. Washed the quickly accumulating cobwebs off the poolside furniture, pulled weeds, edged the lawn, vacuumed the pool, and deadheaded the hanging baskets. All before Renee arrived with Ava for a 10 am swim and visit to start the day off right! After an early afternoon snack on the patio, Chris (exchange teacher from Colorado) and his family got the fun going. We blew up some pool toys and had the time of our lives at my 6 X 5 birthday party!

Such a colourful day!

By the time Keira and Ranger arose from their pool-energy-building naps, the orca was fully inflated and the shenanigans really got rolling. Maggie and Chris ventured into the pool and Donna brought out the party leis to add MORE colour to our party!

Ahhhhh, memories of summers living in the pool. Inventing games, jumping onto every pool toy imaginable, floating with blow-up balls, mermaid hair, and on, and on. Never had an Orca, but yesterday it sure was fun!

Then I got even closer before I slowly wiggled into the bushes.

We rounded out the night with lasagne and half a movie and prepared ourselves for a Sunday at the Gilles St Market, SAETL exchange farewell picnic, and staff Christmas get-together. We all had a lil nappy-nap before yet another too-late-for-Grandma dinner and finished out the movie. Ahhh, what a weekend. Weeehooooo!!!!

  1. That killer whale looks like awesome fun. The lizard is a blue tongue. My Dad kept one in my sandpit once when I was little, so I don’t have a life long fear of them at all……
